A Small man in a Big Wolrd

Gérard Rancinan is a French artist and photographer. He is a keen observer of his contemporaries. He applies his original perspective both in the field and in real mises en scène, veritable simulacra of our world. His work is displayed in museums (Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris, Musée du Louvre Lens, Danubiana Musée d’Art Contemporain in Bratislava, Musée d’Art Contemporain Les Abattoirs in Toulouse, Goss Michael Foundation in Dallas in the US, Musée d’art contemporain Triennale di Milano in Italy) and galleries all over the globe. His international renown has made him one of the most successful photographers of modern times. Caroline Gaudriault and Gérard Rancinan have been involved in a dialogue on art and literature for the last fifteen years. Together, they conceptualise their artistic intentions, pose questions and transcribe each others’ ideas, each in their own medium. While Rancinan’s photographs confront the spectator on an emotional level, the thoughts of Caroline Gaudriault invite us to take time to pause and reflect.
